Calendar of Events (As of April 5, 2011 Meeting)

Please note: all events are subject to change. For more details on each event, see the minutes of our meetings. More activities -- some listed on the Ongoing Activities page -- may be added as more local groups make suggestions. More details to be announced when available.

January

  • Jan. 15 at 10 am: Centennial Kick-Off at Borough Building including Presentation on Clark’s Summit in the Early Days.
  • Jan. 16: Sunday Funday 1-6 pm following 8 am - noon breakfast at the Fire Hall

February

  • Feb. 17 – 21: Ice Festival with Theme “A Moment Frozen in Time,”  Parade at 7 pm on Thursday, Feb. 17 with Family Fun Faire and A Rip in Time by Abington Youth Theater at Borough Building following,  Play repeated at Abington Community Library, Saturday at 1 pm.  Mini-Museum at Borough Building Sat. 10-5 and Sun. 11-4.
  • Feb. 25: St. David's Society Banquet

March

  • March 5: Our Lady of the Snows 100th Anniversary with Pontifical Mass at 5 pm and dinner reception at Fiorelli's
  • March 24: A Century Ago in Lackawanna County by Dennis Martin - Presentation at Abington Community Library at 7 pm.

April

  • April 8: Second Friday
  • April 14: Way Back When by Warren Watkins - Presentation at Abington Community Library at 7 pm.
  • April 29:  Royal Wedding sponsored by the Welsh Society at the Clark's Summit Fire House from 6 - 9.  Admission is $10 and covers food, streaming TV of the wedding, a Welsh piano player and a music group.
  • April 30: Abington Church Tour (schedule on home page)

May

  • May 5: Cinquo de Mayo at Moes Mexican Restaurant startuing at 6 pm (buy your own)
  • May 13: Second Friday
  • May 28:  Veteran Memorial Dedication 2 pm  at Veteran's Park on North State Street
  • May 29: Dedication of the John E. Fitzgerald Memorial Bridge at Scranton Interchange, PA Turnpike exit 134 Administration Building at Toll Plaza Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania at 1 pm. 
  • May 30: Memorial Day Parade 11am (assenmbly at 10 am)

June

  • June 10: Second Friday Art Walk
  • June 11: Forever Young Memorial Fishing Derby (9-12, awards 12-1) and Family Fun Day (1 pm - dusk) at Abington Area Park
  • June 11: Robert A. Preate Memorial Park Walk/Run  (Registration Form Below).

July

  • July 2: Independence Day Fireworks and Patriotic Celebration at Abington Heights Middle School (sponsored by the Rotary Club of the Abingtons) with rain date July 3
  • July 8: Second Friday Art Walk
  • July 14-16: ABPA SummerFest (may be rescheduled to July 7 - 11)
  • July 26: The Pit Stop: An Old Fashioned Family Fun Evening at the Abington Community Library from 4 to 7 pm featuring all-beef grilled hot dogs and 100-Acre Wood.

August

  • August 26: Centennial Eve Cocktail Party - 6-8 pm at Clark's Summit Fire Hall
  • August 27: Centennial Day Celebration in Downtown Clark's Summit - 11 am - 7 pm (Details TBA)

September

  • September 9: Senior Center Open House from 3 - 6 pm.  They will showcase their various activities and serve refreshments. 
  • September 10: Walking Tour of Borough and Buildings

October

  • October 28: Band performance at "The Pit" (tentative)
  • October 29: Centennial Revue at High School

November

  • Date TBA: Clark’s Summit Through the Years by Charles Kumpas - Presentation at Borough Building

December

  • Date TBA: Closing Ceremony and Time Capsule
