Civil War Generals Meet and Greet Friday June 24, 2022
Featuring Robert Savakinus and Timothy Novotney’s documentary The Confederation of Union Generals is a non-profit Civil War living history educational organization based in Gettysburg, PA. Our members consist of persons from all over the East Coast, including several from the Scranton area. Our mission is to authentically portray historical figures from the American Civil War to educate the public and honor the service of the persons so portrayed. We include not only military generals, but nurses, important political figures, women journalists, and a cross-section of American life. Our signature program is called Meet the Generals, where we introduce the public to the members with a short teaser of our characters' lives and then invite the public to ask questions. The forum is open to all kind of questions – they can pertain to Civil War service or extend to any time in the lifetime of our characters' lives. The program is determined by the questions the public asks. On Friday evening, June 24th, the Confederation of Union Generals (COUG) and the Lackawanna Historical Society present a screening of Robert Savakinus and Timothy Novotney’s documentary about COUG, followed by a Meet the Generals program at the historic Waverly Community House.
The event is free. COVID-19 Policy: The Ball will be held in a large hall with plenty of windows allowing for good air flow.
